Backlogs a Comfort of the Past?


A diverse set of clients from numerous industries lately express that they are busy making things, making things go, or making things work better.  At the same time, many share a longing for a time when busy also meant BACKLOG.  Orders for items needed several weeks or months in the future that would keep employees busy and invoices going out the door on a regular basis.  In other words, a bit of a comfort zone.


The comfort zone afforded by a backlog seems to be gone for good.  Customers are not ordering parts, replacements, service, etc, until they absolutely need it.  How is your business responding to shorter and narrower pipelines?
